Your guide to capturing your newborn Inhome

Capturing all the magic at home with you and your newest little love.

These sessions take place within the first 8 weeks and follow a relaxed, lifestyle approach — less about posing and more about documenting life just as it is. Siblings are always included, and yes, pets are welcome too!

A family of three, a man, a woman, and a newborn baby, sitting outdoors on a wooden ledge with their dog, a bulldog, in front. The man is kissing the woman on her forehead, and the woman is holding the baby wrapped in a yellow blanket with white hearts. The background consists of greenery and a wooden fence.

Give your baby a bath the night before or the morning of the session, if they’re unsettled or have gas, this can help them relax beforehand. A feed just before I arrive will also help keep your little one calm and sleepy for the session.

Have your baby dressed in the outfit you’d like photographed, and keep a couple of blankets or swaddles ready to use.

Family first, details after.

We’ll aim to capture as many special moments as possible during your session. We usually start with family photos first, especially if siblings are involved, as little ones often lose interest around the halfway point. After that, we can focus on your newborn — tiny hands, feet, and all the little details you’ll want to remember.

If you would like breastfeeding photos included, this can be noted in your questionnaire, so we only capture what you feel comfortable sharing.

Light and bright.

Natural light is key to your session! We’ll be shooting near a window, usually in a lounge or bedroom setting.

For the best results, I recommend your main bedroom (where most photos will be taken) has neutral bed linen with a few fun cushions or pops of colour, and clear bedside tables. I may also use other areas of your home depending on the light and setting such as the hallway, nursery, living areas, or even the front of the house. If anything needs to be moved around, don’t worry I’ll help with that on the day.

Adding pops of colour through styling always works beautifully think a swaddle, blanket, or cushion.

I can’t wait to capture your newest little love.
